Brad Pitt returned to the big screen this year with Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Ad Astra, while Adam Sandler took a dramatic turn in Ben and Joshua Safdie’s Uncut Gems. In their Variety Studio: Actors on Actors conversation, Pitt talked about going to Tarantino’s house to read the one copy of the Once Upon a Time script and compared the director’s writing to Shakespeare’s. He also praised Sandler’s “convincing” colonoscopy scene in Uncut Gems, for which Sandler said they used a real doctor to film.
